The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

The Big News...

Well, we FINALLY got our assignments for next year. I was getting very, very frustrated, as it is now only about 3 months until we are supposed to move.

Finally, the email came. It arrived about 12 hours before Cris was due to board a plane for a job interview in Kentucky (we believed this was the most likely place we were to be assigned). He ended up canceling the trip to Kentucky when we got the news.

The shock is finally wearing off, when we discovered we would be moving from this.... to this...
Colorado Springs!!! We made our "wish list" last october, and although i thought there was no way in the world we would ever get the Colorado assignment, I ranked it pretty high. First rank was to stay in Hawaii, second was Kentucky (close to home, and there were 2 openings so we were hoping to get stationed there with our very dear friends from hawaii). Next was Colorado Springs. this is a really great assignment, and it is exceptionally rare for someone to get it the first year out of residency. It is pure luck that i actually got this assignment. We are so very very sad to leave Hawaii. Primarily because Cris absolutely LOVES his job at the university. It is the perfect job and he is so sad to go. But i am very grateful that if we do have to leave Hawaii we didn't get a terrible assignment.

anyway, that is our big news. Now we start on the giant list of how to get everything done in order to actually get our whole gang and all our stuff to colorado. We always joke that when we came to Hawaii it was just the 2 of us and our suitcases. During our 4 years here we added 2 daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cars, and 2 motorcycles. This will be quite the entourage to try to get back across the pacific ocean. But we are EXCITED for the adventure and fun in store!

It's so fun to keep track of your family. I first started looking in on your guys when we both began the pursuit of a Vietnam adoption.
Since then we've both added 2 kiddos to the mix (although we found out our babies were a bit closer to home than we had thought)! And now you're moving to the snow...wow. That's going to be culture shock for the girls!

I'm glad you finally know! I suppose Colorado isn't too bad if you have to leave Hawaii. Good luck with the move!
