it's only been about 3 weeks since we were last in the Buckeye state....and yet, here we are again!!! we had a great time during Betsy and Brad's wedding week, but i have to admit, it was just a teeny tiny bit crazy, and the girls' behavior left much to be desired!!! At the end of the week we were 3 tired girls, and i really wasn't sure i could make the trip again. However, Juneau's change in behavior over the last three weeks has been nothing short of a miracle, and by the time we loaded up the car for our trip, i was ready to try again.
I am soooooo thankful for our Ohio family, who never think twice about making the girls their top priority when we are visiting. Once again, Gramma Saccenti (or Gramma Da-senti if Nova is the one talking), somehow managed to sneak away from work, and come up to columbus to watch the girls while i attend my OB/GYN conference.
Our trip from Denver was super smooth....couldn't have asked for better behavior (although, i would like to ask....if at all possible.....it would be really, REALLY, nice to fly on an airplane where all three of us don't have to cram into the airplane potty. that would be super). but all in all, i couldn't have asked for a better trip.
Gramma has been spoiling the girls rotten, from 8 a.m. when they wake up, until midnight (yes, i did say midnight....somehow the time change is really getting them this time around!) when they finally close their tired little eyes.
i haven't mentioned yet that we are reading our VERY FIRST CHAPTER BOOK!!! i have been anxiously awaiting the time when i thought they could handle a chapter book, and that time is officially here! I thought Charlotte's web would be a perfect classic, and we have all been enjoying it immensely! I will, however, warn anyone looking for a good chapter book for their kids....I totally forgot about the fact that the book starts out with Fern's dad getting ready to kill wilbur since he is a runt...that was a little hard to explain..haha! but we made it through that little hiccup, and we are just now meeting charlotte...
Jbug especially loves the book, and talks about charlotte, and wilbur, and fern throughout the day.
i couldn't help but take a picture of our little technology junkies...barely awake, and still in their PJ's, and they wanted to play computer games. I dont really mind them playing, since they really like educational games on line...like Super Why
In exploring the downtown columbus area, we found this cute little carrousel. The girls LOVED it, and even indulged Gramma by letting her pick out which animals they would ride.
This is Juneau's Birthday week....and we have already started our celebrations!! Last night grandpa saccenti (also known as Grandpa Da-senti by Nova) drove up to columbus, and we enjoyed juneaus very favorite cuisine - Hibachi Japanese!!! They cooked up a delicious birthday dinner for our girl (pics to come, if i can get them off my phone!), and then presented her with a "birthday pineapple" (yeah...weird, i know!) in the shape of a fish (yeah....even weirder). To make the entire scene unforgettable they sang a rousing rendition of "happy birthday" in quit thick japanese accents while banging some sort of traditional drum. haha! it was AWESOME! right up Juneau's alley :)
