Jude -6 months!

Hey Jude! You're 6 months old! I truly cannot believe that my little 5 pound baby is now a 6 month old, smiling, cooing, sweet little baby boy. 

You finally made it  in for your check up with your new pediatrician, Dr. John.  I was expecting you to be big and chunky at your weigh in, but you fell in about the 20% for both height and weight, and weighed in at only 14 1/2 pounds! But in spite of your entry into the world 5 weeks early, you are meeting all your milestones!

It has been an eventful month for you, little Jude! You transformed over the last month, and it has been so fun to watch you go from a sleepy little infant, to a funny, giggling little boy!

This month you found your feet! This is one of my very favorite baby moves...The old grab the toe and try to reach your mouth with every bit of strength you can muster! I love watching you play with your feet!

You are laughing and giggling all the time now.  I love when you laugh out loud, and you are definitely getting ticklish!

You tried your first foods this month! One of the traditional first foods for local babies is Poi (pureed Taro Root). It's very bland, and rather gooey, and no one else in the family likes it, but you love it! I think you like the gooey consistency!

You can sit in a swing at the park! You, daddy, and your sisters will sometimes go to the park while you wait for mom to get out of work.  You giggle when daddy pushes you on the swing!

You don't really nap much anymore.  You take a few little cat naps throughout the day, but gone are the days of sleeping 20 hours a day! In fact, you have actually been waking up more frequently at night as well, and you usually get up about 3 times/night to eat.

More Poi!

On your 6 month birthday, you got 2 teeth! You had been a bit fussy, and mammaw was suspicious that you might be starting to get your teeth, but I didn't notice any redness or puffiness on your gums.  On your 6 month birthday you couldn't keep your tongue inside your mouth, and you kept sticking it out all day long.  Finally i felt your gums and realized your tongue was hanging out because you were exploring your new teeth!

 You are sitting on your own! We certainly can't leave you to your own devices (just yesterday you pushed yourself off the ottoman and straight onto the hardwood floor! You can't be trusted!), but you will sit for a short period of time without any help!

You really don't enjoying lying on your back. Or your stomach. Or sitting. Or being held in any of those positions....You want to stand, stand, stand! We can hardly keep you happy unless you are standing! I'm not really surprised, as no one else in your family really enjoys sitting around!

You are inevitably, without a doubt, born to be a Buckeye!

 

It's been an amazing month, Jude.  Grandpa, Grandma, and Mammaw were able to watch you grow over this month, and we were all amazed to watch you doing something new almost every day! You are sweet, and giggly, and you adore your big sisters.  You watch every single thing they do (and unfortunately you laugh like crazy at some of Juneau's ridiculous - and slightly annoying - crazy behaviors...which only makes her do them 100 times more, since she loves to see your smile!) Nova adores you more than anything in the whole wide world, and she stares at you every morning until you open your eyes and she can start cooing in your face and saying "oh my little cutie bootie. Aren't you just the cutest little thing, my cutie bootie".  We can't imagine life without you! Happy 6 month birthday, little Jude!
