The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

(Last) Friday Night

I'm only a week late in posting this but it was nice to have Emilie in town for one more Friday night outing. She's been back in COOOLD Colorado for almost a week and I'm finally getting around to blogging.

Another Friday evening in Hawaii...it was 5 degrees colder than normal which to the locals qualifies as "Winter" so Magic Island was very deserted and we had plenty of room to roam.

These look like recycled pictures from the week before but they aren't. We were the first ones of the group to arrive and Juneau and Nova wanted another round of climbing on this tree so we set up camp in the same spot.
We're going to have to pick a new spot soon since the second time around, each of girls ventured higher into the tree...I can see where this will lead. Tim kept throwing in comments: "Remember the first time Melody broke her arm falling out of the tree at Magic Island?"
Proof that these pictures aren't recycled: Julian Romine.
Emilie and the girls hadn't yet had a chance to see our friends Becca and Brad and the Romine boys - Julian and Caleb. You can see the Julian wasn't sure what to make of all these girls and for the most part, wisely kept his distance.
They always manage to make up a few games.
I'vce got to keep my June Bug out of the sun or we're going to start losing her out in the dark.

Finally time for fireworks!
For some reason, Juneau decided to transition to sitting and watching with her hands over her ears.
Little Ellie joined her.

After the fireworks, you are guaranteed to hear: "Can we stay and play for a little while?"

Apparently they didn't feel they could get any higher in the small tree and decided to check out this bigger one nearby.
I'm not sure if there will be pictures from tonight since Friday night fireworks outing has been preempted by the Asian Pacific Economic Conference taking over Oahu. Thirteen heads of state including Obama are in town and Waikiki is nearly shut down. Laura and the girls have stayed on the Windward side all week to avoid the craziness on the other side of the mountains.

Finally, I have to take a moment to make some folks aware of a wonderful product I recently found. Just in case there is someone in your household who might tend to leave the house for the day and leave the garage door open, I introduce to you, The Garage Butler.

It is readily available on the internet, is easy to install and well worth the $35-$50 compared to the cost of replacing all the stuff potentially stolen from your garage if "someone" leaves the garage door open when they leave the house. You can set it to a certain time period and after that amount of time, if the garage door is left open, it simply closes.

(Let me emphasize that this is all theoretical and any similarity between any real persons or situations or Stickley households is purely coincidental) My new best friend: The Garage Butler
