The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

trick-or-treat (hawaii style) + the zoo!

tired of halloween yet? we kind of were too....but since i hauled their costumes allll the way to hawaii....and since it was ACTUAL halloween day in hawaii, we decided to do it one more time this year :)
both last year and this year we kind of took the easy way out, and did trick or treat at the mall. We have discovered 2 key components of trick or treat at the mall in hawaii (where the children come to the mall by the bus load for trick or treat). #1 arrive early, and #2 hit all the downstairs stores until the bus starts unloading, and then go UPSTAIRS (my genius of a husband came up with this key tip). We only stayed for 30 minutes, but the girls candy bags were already completely full and super heavy! it was just about perfect.

Nova wanted to try out some super hero moves this time as well...(you can tell by her sunglasses she is a Hawaiian Cowgirl)\taking their costumes VERY seriously (especially Juneau!)

Doesn't this little Snow White look like the real thing! we had to get a picture with her!

Nova kept saying "This is FUN". She was genuinely having a blast!!
Daddy (notice his woody shirt) and his little "Jesse"
Daddy (aka Mr. Incredible) and Violet
I haven't updated you all on Nova's cuddle blankies lately.....Let's just say the obsession is kind of out of control. It all started with my own personal Cuddle blankie (a gift from my little sis Bets). It is the VERY VERY best cuddle blankie (the Brookstone Nap), and I actually had that cuddle blankie with me in the hospital the day Nova was born. Well, Nova kind of claimed that blanket as her own, so Betsy bought each of the girls their very own Blue cuddle blankie. Nova loves her "blue blankie". But she loves "brown blankie" even more, and now feels that it is her own personal brown blankie. Also near and dear to her heart is"pink blankie" which you can see in this picture. Now in the mix is the NEW big brown cuddle blankie recently aquired from Costco. Nova is on a first name basis with her cuddles, and depending on her need she will just say "i need my brown", or "can you hand me pink" or "have you seen blue?".

anyway, all of that to say nova loves a good cuddle blankie...or three...Here she is with "pink", "original brown", and "big brown".
It doesn't matter a bit that she is in Hawaii, where it is at least 80 degrees, and she wakes up completely drenched in sweat from being completely wrapped up in blankets....she loves those cuddles in hot or cold weather!
Now...on the the zoo. Every day the girls inevitably ask at some point "What day is it, mom?". so i'll tell them, and then they say "is that the day we get to see Melody?". sooooo cute! i actually love the days we get to see melody, not only because it is a blast, but also because i totally use it as leveredge for importnant things, like taking a nap, or cleaning up their toys. for example..."you girls really need to take a great nap today, because when we wake up we get to see Melody!". and then there are squeals of delight all around, and promises of being very, VERY good girls and taking SUPER long naps! :)
love these three!
Credit for the Cousin Photography goes to Cris!

Checking out the Rhino's (they were REALLY cool!)

Thankfully Melody packed a great snack to share, because these girls really worked up an appetite!
They are really into telling secrets! it's soooo cute! Here Melody is sharing some sort of super secret with them!
Then it was off to Zippy's (Hawaii's version of Denny's). Melody introduced Juneau to one of her favorite foods....Saimin. As you can see, Juneau loved it.
Melody can pack way some serious Saimin! The girls both loved the "goodies" hiding out in the saimin, like the fish cake, and egg....
Nova stuck with good ole' fashioned chicken nuggets and french fries, haha!
Auntie Beth's lap can't really accomodate all 3 of these girls (although the girls certainly like to try!) I had to hurry up and get these pictures posted, because tomorrow is friday again (already??????!!!!!) and i know we will have a camera full of pics :) only 1.5 more days in hawaii for this momma. The girls and Laura will be staying for another couple of weeks, and then rejoining me in colorado around thanksgiving....
