The mountains of Colorado are super cold in the morning for this Hawaii acclimated family...but the sun has been coming out nicely and making it feel much warmer than the 35 degrees that the thermometer reads.
So, we ventured out to let the girls try another "first"...this time - ICE SKATING!
We went around one time and were ready to call it quits until we found these skate trainers. Juneau picked it up really quickly.
We weren't sure how adventurous Nova would be with the whole thing but she stuck with it and figured out quite well how to hold her skates straight and just glide while we pushed her around the rink.
Juneau on the other hand, after a few times around, kept yelling at us to "let me do it by myself"
By the end she was off and running by herself!
And we even ditched the trainer and made a few laps just holding hands...
After skating, the girls really wanted to see the new Muppets movie (and by girls, I mean Emilie) so we headed to the theater. The girls enjoyed the movie but for Emilie, the movie paled in comparison to a supposed sighting of a "B-level" reality TV star in the lobby of the theater (Keep in mind that Emilie once SWORE that UFC middleweight champ, Anderson Silva was sitting in front of us at church).
For me, the highlights of the movie were a 10 second cameo by the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl playing "Animal" in a Muppets tribute band in Reno and the Muppets doing a barbershop quartet version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" while Jack Black screamed "You're ruining one of the greatest songs of all time!"
By the time we got back to the hotel, a full day of activities with no nap meant tired girls...
But not too tired for some last minute goofing around while trying to avoid having to go to bed until the very last minute.
