Nova's new favorite show

Like my wonderful wife, I have become quite the slacker in blogging as of late. I've even had plenty of material what with teh girls here and all but yet I been going to bed with no new blog material nightly

So, now I'm going to make up for it a bit.

We finished a great week with Emilie in town:

These girls don't realize it's not normal to just sit out on the lanai in February and eat lunch while staring wistfully at the ocean.

Nova's "Princess" persona has gotten completely out of hand.  It is nearly impossible to get her dressed on a daily basis. 

Nova: "I want to wear a pretty dress"
Me: "But we are going to the park to play so put some pants and a shirt on"
Nova: "But princesses don't wear pants, they wear pretty dresses"

After much debating and resorting to Jedi mind tricks, I convince her to wear play clothes.  Then, I put her hair up and it nearly brings her to tears when she looks in the mirror and sees a ponytail: "Dad, princesses need their hair down so it can blow in the wind"

So, she ends up at the park with her hair down "so it can blow in the wind"

 Meanwhile, Juneau is just having fun...

 While Juneau hangs around, Nova has, of course, tracked down a baby:

Juneau is starting soccer this spring so we got in a little practice.

Nova isn't old enough yet to play in the league but is ready to go.

 Nova actually keeps saying she wants to "run races"...Alex and Lyndsey will be so proud.

The day after Emilie left, the deluge started.  As I said previously, the weather was super crazy around here.

The girls are super into doing everything themselves these days, especially things like making their own lunch

With a faceful of Nutella, Nova was determined to get to the bathroom and wash it off before I could get a picture of her.

Under the category of "Crazy Thing Alex & Lyndsey would have done when they were 4", using a string from their bead necklace set to tie around one sister's waist while the other one takes her for a walk like a dog.

But, it is not surprising based on their current obsession with dogs.  Their utmost goal everyday is to get Summit to sit on their lap.

Juneau especially loves animals and it totally makes her day when Summit settles down next to her.

And now, Nova's new favorite show:  At least once a day, Nova asks to "watch the show where they go like this":

She of course is referring to the Japanese obstacle course show "Sasuke" which now airs on G4 (cable channel) as "American Ninja Warrior".

Now, this isn't one of those "silly" Japanese game shows like Wipeout...

 This is a bonafide sporting event in Japan where the best athletes compete in ever more difficult obstacles...

It is extremely awesome and is now Nova's favorite new show.  This is the "Easy" first stage:
