The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

He is Risen!!!!

"Tired" does not even begin to describe this momma as Sunday night is coming to a close. We had a beautiful Easter weekend, overall.  However, the constant stream of sugar, combined with the lack of a nap for 2 little girls, led to a rough evening when bedtime rolled around.

Friday night we headed to church for the good Friday service.
To the future 13 year old Nova, who may or may not be reading this one day, I'm sorry to have to embarrass you with potty stories, but i'm the momma and that's what momma's do.
Friday I took the girls to kids church, and after the service I came back to pick them up. The room was SWARMING with 3 and 4 year olds, and Juneau came right to the door, but Nova was no where to be found. Juneau didn't know where she was, and the teachers couldn't find her. I'm not the spazz-out type, so i calmly stepped to the side while the nursery workers looked for Nova.  About 10 full minutes later (by this time maybe i was spazzing just a tiny little bit) a teacher arrived with  a little Nova at the door, on the verge of tears. The second she saw me she burst into tears and grabbed on to me. When I could finally calm her hysterics enough to find out the story, she told me that she had to go to the potty to poop, but when she was done she kept calling and calling for someone to wipe her bottom, because "my daddy ALWAYS wipes my bottom", and no one could hear her, but she couldn't get up from the potty because no one wiped her bottom.  I'm not quite sure how long she sat there, but i gather it was quite a long time...poor little traumatized thing!

anyway, photo flashback to the Easter Egg hunt at my work last weekend.
Juneau and Nova ran into Rosie (the little girl of one of my midwife friends from work) at the egg hunt, and were happy to have a buddy to chum around with all morning.
This is Nathaniel,  a son of one of the nurses i used to work with in Hawaii, who has also moved to Colorado.
Nova took her egg hunting very seriously this year...

Easter Morning!!!!  The girls were each thrilled to find a chocolate bunny in their baskets. This year i decided that rather than rationing out the candy, and handing out a piece at a time over the next weeks--->months, until the candy was finally gone sometime around halloween, i would just let them eat as much as they wanted and get rid of as much as a could on easter...they were actually relatively successful in  their task....

I have officially entered the Era of the Fake Smile with Nova. I couldn't get a genuine smile from this kid all day!!!
but fake smile or not, she's stinkin' adorable! :)
After church this morning we spent the afternoon at my friend, Gina's house. Gina is in my small group, and she is just a wonderful person. So thankful I had the chance to get to know their family during this last difficult year in colorado.  She hosted a lovely Easter dinner, and had a house FULL of families (i think we ended up with 10 adults and 13 kids!!!)
 TONS of fun!!!
a living room full of kids...
Laura and I whipped together some DELICIOUS contributions for the dinner.  I had juiced some amazing strawberry limeade with my juicer, and we tried a new scallop potato recipe, i took my trusty stand-by Sweet Potato Casserole, and we made Paula Deen's banana pudding (mmmm!!!) and also some oven roasted carrots. Everything came out just perfectly, and we had a wonderful time celebrating Easter and The Resurrection! the only thing missing was Daddy.....and we only have 33 days to go!!!!!
