The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

hail hail hail

Colorado Springs weather literally drives me crazy. When we wake up in the morning to go to work, it is in the 50s, and we usually wear sweatshirts to the car. By midday, it is absolutely steaming hot, and thank goodness for the  t-shirt under the sweatshirt. 5 oclock rolls around, and the clouds start rolling, and by 7 p.m. there very well may be huge chunks of ice pelting you from the skies.
This is not my photo, but it is a photo from one of the news websites in colorado springs showing the hail we experienced yesterday.
At 630, we were all smiles and ready for our first t-ball game. Well, technically it was the second t-ball game, but the 1st one was RAINED OUT 2 days ago. We didn't even make it out to the diamond for that game.
We made it about 1/2 of an inning before the hail started coming down. At first we huddled under the umbrella, and it was kind of fun to hear the pea sized hail bouncing off the umbrella. Then the whole sky opened up, and giant ice balls were pounding down. We ran for cover and waited out the worst of it.
The girls really had fun even though it was short lived. It's so fun to watch them on the field.  Nova absolutely loves the game.  It's a true case of nature vs. nurture.  Totally different genetics, but raised pretty much the exact same way, and these 2 could not be more different when it comes to sports! I just can't believe i didn't realize it until this year. I really thought Juneau would love sports...she's such an active kid. And I thought Nova (in all her princess glory) wouldn't really care much about it. Shows what I know! Nova's Stickley genes are coming through loud and clear, and she has already shown a real love for athletics.  I think we will definately find something Juneau loves and excels at, but so far it hasn't been team sports (swimming lessons are coming up next month, so we'll give that a try). She's also been showing a some interest in gymnastics, so maybe once we get settled in Hawaii we will see how she likes that.

This afternoon (before ANOTHER thunderstorm rolled through) we enjoyed some time in the kiddie pool.
While the girls played, Cris and I worked in the garage for a while.  Cris decided to take the bike for a spin, and Nova was sooooo excited to go for a ride. You can see she is holding on TIGHT!!! right before she took off she siad "I'm kind of nervous, mommy".
And, just a tiny glimpse of baby Jude. He seemed rather intent on his thumb sucking, so we didn't get a good  look at his face this time.
love this boy :)
