Bug Day 2012

It's hard to believe it's been FOUR YEARS since the day this little bug was placed into her daddy's arms and became a part of our family forever!!! What a happy, happy day of celebrating Juneau's Adoption Day.  I think Juneau is at the perfect age to really start understsanding the significance of her adoption. It makes me so happy to see her proud of being adopted, and proud of her story. Her story is so special, and I love it that she wants to hear it all the time.   

 We invited our DeWitt buddies over for the evening, and I planned a big adventure for the kiddos. We headed to the Pueblo Kiddie Rides,  and it was awesome! We started out the evening with a little fun in the bounce house...Always a hit!

 Nova climbed up onto a horse on the carousel, and she seemed to be fine when i left to help some of the other kiddos on their horses.  When I looked back at Nova she was hysterical and crying...Turned out she had spotted a horse with an American flag, and was desperate to ride the "USA HORSE!". She has recently officially become the most patriotic 4 year old on the planet.  She looooves the USA, and has been telling stories about America, the flag, soldiers, and even the war for a couple of weeks.

 Recently she has started wanting to talk to every single soldier she sees in uniform. It's like they are celebrities to her! At Panda Express for dinner last night she BEGGED to say hi to the young Private who was standing in line. She absolutely beamed when he smiled at her and gave her a high five.

 Nova was so happy to have a little buddy along for the evening. Timmy is a little over a year younger than Nova, and he is just the sweetest cutest little thing ever.  Nova was happy to have an excuse to not have to ride some of the bigger rides with the "Big girls", and loved riding the smaller kid rides with Timmy.  They were a perfect little pair.

 Meanwhile, the Big Girls could not WAIT to get on this roller coaster! It was definitely Riley's favorite ride!

 Daddy braved the spinning rocket ride with the 2 littlest ones.  He looked a little green, but nobody threw up!

 After the kiddie rides we headed over to the drive in movie theater. in my delirious pregnancy brain i somehow thought we would stay for the double feature (Ice Age 4 and Madagascar 3).  The movies don't start until dark, which wasn't until 9 p.m.  The DeWitt kids are usually all snuggled up and tucked into bed by 7:30, so i was already pushing my luck with the 9 p.m. start time for the first movie! haha! we made it through Ice Age, but packed up and headed out before Madagascar started.

While we were waiting for dusk, i busted out a couple little games for the kiddos to play.  The first was a bug relay, and the kids had to collect the plastic bugs, and carry them back to their buckets on a fly swatter! They loved it!

 After that we had an "ant eating contest" and I had the kids eat chocolate sprinkles off paper plates wtihout any hands.

 I had TONS of glow sticks from the dollar store (Remember when i bought like 1000 of these things because it helped the girls sleep at night? this was like 3 years ago, and i still had a stash left over!) Anyway, the glowsticks were the biggest hit of all.

 This is one of my very favorite pictures ever.  Isn't this just the cutest gang? And the amazing thing is they each have amazing personalities that outshine their cuteness (if that is even possible!)

 It took Timmy approximately 47 seconds to fall asleep in the car after the movie, Nova was out very shortly after, and I think Riley took the longest to fall asleep,  at about 4 minutes after leaving the parking lot. 
Cris will always say one of his favorite Daddy Duties is carrying sleeping kiddos in from the car.  On this night he got that pleasure x 5 :)

 In spite of the busy night, and the super late bedtime, 6 a.m. rolled around and we had 5 little cuties rustling in their room.

They played in the playroom for a while, then settled in for a little Doc McStuffins on TV (I have to admit that the DeWitt kids do a mighty fine Vocal Trio of the Doc McStuffins theme song!)

 Before Church we snuggled up with Juneau and watched her adoption video.  She loves to watch the story, and hear us add in little details about her adoption.  She adds her own narrative with the video as well "That's when Grandpa and Grandma and daddy got on the airplane", and "here comes the part where mommy cries happy tears"

We are blessed!
