The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

mini-getaway weekend!

I have been anticipating this weekend for a while now, and it was as great as i was hoping it would be! Our friends had offerred to watch the girls for a sleepover while Cris and I headed up to a baby shower in Denver for one of our friends, and we decided to make a whole mini-getaway weekend out of it!

Meanwhile, back at the DeWitt's house.....

There was much swinging, playing with new/different toys...
 and outside playtime!
Love this picture of our little princess filling up her water squirter...the DeWitt girls have a TON of princess dresses, and Nova loves to try them on!
 more fun on the swingset

 Nova and her little buddy.
 ....and....more swinging...
Miss Gina worked hard to find a meal picky-girl Nova would enjoy....I think Nova's "thumbs up" indicates she was a fan of the mac/cheese and nuggets! Great job, Miss Gina!!
I was a little worried about bedtime, but it looks like these 2 tired girls got a good night's sleep!
LOOOOVEEE this gang! They enjoyed Sesame Street Hot Chocolate for breakfast. I think it was a big hit!
It appears there was some serious playing going on...
 And fun in the sprinkler
Can't beat popsicles on a hot summer day!
While the kiddos had an amazing weekend with friends, this momma and daddy were having lots of fun in Denver.  After spending a few hours at an awesome baby shower for our friends Chido and Athena (Athena's baby girl is due 10 days before Jude!!), we headed down to catch a showing of The Dark Knight Rises.  My super-planner-skills paid off (at least in my opinion, Cris always chuckles a bit under  his breath at how some of  my plans turn out).  I found this very cool theater, that had a "VIP experience" for only a couple of dollars more.  All of the theater tickets included unlimited popcorn and fountain drinks (i think my dad could do some serious damage at this theater!!), and the VIP tickets included assigned premium seating in reclining lounge-style chairs. oh yeah, baby, we were living it up big time :)
After the movie we checked in at our lovely hotel room at the nearby Hyatt....

And then enjoyed a late-night dinner at the hotel restaurant. I had the MOST DELICOIUS Garlic Shrimp and Grilled Watermelon Street Tacos.  I know this sounds like a crazy combo, but it was amazing! That adventerous husband of mine ordered......wait for it.....Buffalo Chicken Wings. Classic Cris :)
We slept in super late (well, late for this early-rising family, at least), and didn't get up until about 9 a.m.  Pretty awesome indeed. Then we headed out to explore some Denver Shopping. A stop by the Stickley Furniture Store was very awesome, but also enlightening, as we certainly will not be spending $2,000 for a coffee table :) Of course I had to stop by Ikea....because what is a super-Denver-weekend-getaway without a stop by Ikea?!!

Many thanks to Super-mom Miss Gina, who makes it look easy to keep 5 rambunctious young-un's occupied with amazing activities for 2 whole days!! :)

And so we are embarking on another busy week of working, organizing, packing, and counting down the days to Hawaii!
