The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

Day 191 / 6 To Go: Back in the U.S.A.

Posted by: Cris

At 11:15 a.m. today, my phone rang and for the first time in 6 months my caller ID showed up with "Emilie"...And Emilie was officially back in the U.S.A. - waiting at line at customs in Baltimore. What a great feeling that was!! She is staying in Baltimore tonight and then leaving super early tomorrow morning on a commercial flight to Columbus, GA where she will at least get to see our dear friends Tracy and Jeremy and her Aunt Cheryl.

I can only imagine now how slowly the next 6 days will go for all of us in Hawaii. However, it should be helped by the fact that tomorrow Aunt Coral arrives and the girls can't wait. Unfortunately she is coming at a very bad time since it has been pouring rain for about 5 days straight and there is the threat that it will continue to do so until next weekend after we are gone.

The second biggest news of the day was the Ohio State Men's Volleyball in the NCAA National Championship game! (Grandma Saccenti - this is going to be sports so you can stop reading now)

The #3 Buckeyes had made the finals by pulling a minor upset against #2 Penn State who was hosting the final four and playing on their home court. UC Santa Barbara made the finals by upsetting #1 USC in the other semifinal.

After dropping the first set, the Buckeyes came back to take games 2 & 3 before losing game 4 to send it to a 5th set.

In the 5th, the Buckeyes pulled away after hitting 10 points...

And captured Ohio State's first ever Men's Volleyball National Championship.
Go Buckeyes!!

Tonight we are having our last Saturday night slumber party before heading back to the mainland...

It will be great to have Aunt Coral here for a few days and hopefully I can get everything done before 11:45 on Thursday night...it will be here before we know it!!
