Kicking off our 4 day weekend!

One thing I will DEFINATLEY miss when I leave the military is the beauty of the 4 day weekend that accompanies nearly every federal holiday.  I absolutely love looking forward to having 4 days off in a row to spend with the girls (and now Cris too!)

This is a little glimpse into what our bed often looks like by the time the alarm goes off at 0600.  Not quite sure how we will squeeze little Jude into this mix, but it's definately going to be interesting! Now that Daddy is home, there are a few more rules around the house, and the girls have slept in their own beds without coming into our room for pretty much the entire week.

We had a VERY chilly May morning here in Colorado, It stayed in the 40's and 50's all morning, but by 4 this afternoon we were in the 70s.  Juneau LOVES fruit, and has been eating tons of melons (watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe), but she has never had a big giant slice of watermelon all to herself, and her face was priceless!

Notice she is wearing her bicycle helmet....She has been riding her balance bike (2 wheeler without pedals) alllll week, and I think she is ready to try a regular bicycle very very soon! we are SUPER excited!

Cris and I had a fabulous morning to kick off our 4 day weekend.  I am pretty nervous about the girls starting full-day school in the fall, since they have never really been in any type organized childcare setting. We have been so fortunate to have in home childcare for the last 4 years, and so the transition into the group setting is a little scary. I had decided to put them in the day-care/pre-school program on post a couple of mornings a week to help their transition, and today was the perfect opportunity! We dropped the girls off at 8 this morning, made a quick drive-by at the hospital for me to discharge my patient, and then headed up to Garden of the Gods to break in the climbing gear for the season.  By the time we arrived at Garden of the Gods, it was a whopping 47 degrees, overcast, and windy.  

But that didn't stop this rock lover.. (well, truthfully it ALMOST stopped this rock lover, but the new climbing shoes were itching to be tried on, and so he braved the cold rock and wind)

This is one of Cris' most travelled routes at Garden of the Gods, I think this was at least his 5th or 6th trip up....but still fun :)

Anyway, today really couldn't be topped....A morning climbing with my honey, a good report from the preschool teachers, running silly errands with our WHOLE family, and spending time outside riding bikes, playing, talking, and eating watermelon. Now the girls are all snuggled up in bed after a "riveting" chapter from Little House on the  Prarie (Ma, Pa, Mary, Laura AND baby Carrie all had malaria), and Cris and I are browsing our netflix for a good movie to end the night.  Hope all of our friends and family are enjoying an equally lovely start to their summer!
