Turning the Garage into a playroom! When we first moved to Hawaii back in 2005, the original house we moved into had a surprise....carpet in the garage! The garage had been completely converted in to a living room (there was a sectional sofa and a big flat screen TV!) We thought it was a bit crazy at the time. Now that we have gotten used to the typical Hawaii home, we understand the importance of a little extra space! As the girls have gotten older, and are starting to have friends over to play, we decided it would be awesome to have dedicated play area.
Cris generously sacrificed his only real "man space" in the house....well, he sacrificed 3/4 of it :) He is keeping a tiny bit for his motorcycle and tools.
Cris' amazing friend, Sean came over to function as the contracter, and even brought his buddy Eugene as an extra set of hands.
Between the 3 of them they got the room framed, and the drywall hung in just 1 evening. They worked until midnight, but got the job done! I can't wait to get it painted, decorated, and all organized for the girls!
In other news, Cris, Juneau, Nova, and Jude had finally all recovered from their various medical ailments (well, except for some nagging coughs all around), until thursday night, when Cris got a terrible stomach virus. I am really REALLY hoping that the cycle of illness will end with that, but I am prepared for the next round of sickness, as it seems somewhat inevitable.
Jude got this adorable Little Monster outfit in the mail from my Aunt Toni and Uncle Gerry...isn't it just the CUTEST?! I love the little feet on the pants!
Our neighbor Henry spent a couple of hours at our house after school on Friday. Can't believe we have kids that are old enough to play video games with their friends after school...Even if the video game involves dancing to 5 Little Monkeys!
Jude is getting so big and wide-eyed!
How many carseats can fit in the backseat of a pick-up truck? I think we maxed it out!
Not the best picture of Nova, but she LOVES this picture of her and Jude, because Jude is smiling. She says "He's smiling because Sweet Mother is holding him!"
Jude was the only one wearing a tie to church on Sunday (I think ties are unofficially outlawed in Hawaii! I still remember the day Cris interviewed at the University of Hawaii. He wore a tie, of course, because what else would you wear to a job interview!? The tie was useful for getting some chuckles out of the other employees, and a couple of "You're not from here, are you?" comments! ITwas the last time he's put a tie on in Hawaii!)
Jude also slept through the entire church service! We're not sure how anyone could sleep through Pastor Wayne's sermons (he is AMAZING!), but Jude seemed to manage.
We are really beginning to make friends with our neighbors, and i am SO happy! Henry lives next door, and we recently had dinner with Henry's family, and a family a few homes down. We ended up sitting on the lanai and chatting for hours, while The kids entertained themselves...You can see Henry is thrilled about being smothered by Juneau and Nova!
This is one happy daddy :)
Jude thinks his dad is just about the funniest thing in the whole wide world. Sometimes I will spend the whole day making ridiculous faces, dancing, and shaking toys and rattles for Jude, in an attempt to get a tiny smirk. Cris gives him 1 look, and bursts into the biggest grin ever! Totally not fair!
Nova entertained herself with this game for a while. She said she was going to be a basketball star like Alex and Lyndsey, and play basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes. I haven't yet broken it to her that I think she'll be lucky to break 5 feet tall, which doesn't give her a very good chance of being a Buckeye basketball star!
Our Cutie Pie
My most recent crock-pot venture was 5 layer brownies. The girls helped me make them, but I think they were the most excited about licking the bowl...unfortunately the brownies weren't a raging success (the center never really cooked through)
They took "licking the bowl" to a whole new level
Goof Balls!
The day all Nova's dreams came true....Feeding Jude a bottle for the first time!
Here she was rocking and feeding her baby doll
