The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

Day 82: Presents from Afghanistan

Posted by: Cris

Today was my super long day in class and lab...3 hours in the biomechanics lab, a short break, then 3 hours in the anatomy cadaver lab. I'm always beat by the end Tuesday's. While I was away at work, one order of business was for the repairman to come from Sears to fix the dishwasher. Now, it hasn't worked for a week and a half, it wasn't working when I left this morning and it wasn't working when I got home today but wouldn't you know it, for the 30 minutes he was here today, it totally worked perfectly. I was literally dumbfounded. I talked to him on the phone though since I wasn't home and told him what was up and they are still replacing the parts so it wasn't a total waste.

When I got home, I was excited to see the long awaited package mommy had sent to the girls. I told them we had presents from mommy and they came running. They quickly sorted through the loot. While they were looking through the box, I offered Nova one of the Hershey's kisses that mommy had included. She looked at me and said "But I didn't go poop on the potty" (the usual prerequisite to get a Hershey's kiss). I told her it was okay because this was a special present from mommy. Of course she shoved that thing in her mouth then sat there with a look on her face like she was seriously getting away with something.

She collected as much of the loot as she could from the package... She was particularly happy about this stuffed reindeer doll which she quickly announced that she was naming "Percy"...I have no idea where she got that. I even asked several times to make sure I was hearing her right: "Percy?" "Yeah, Percy"

Juneau claimed this little pig which she said was her "guinea pig" the rest of the night.
Eventually Nova decided she couldn't carry it all and piled it all into a box and just carried the box around.
So, everybody is having a great time with Grandma and as you can see, by the end of the day, I think the girls have her worn out. I'm sure she won't be ready to leave next week but at least she'll be able to catch up on her sleep.
