Day 51: Bulldog Blues

Today was more basketball, more playtime and the official start of Bowl season.

A slow morning allowed me to get the Christmas cards finished (finally) so they'll be able to hit the mailbox on Monday - glad I didn't wait until the last minute or anything.

Then it was off to the YMCA for the rivalry matchup of the century in the 4th/5th grade division between the uhm, Green team and the Red team...or something.Brent working hard on defense

With a coaching staff like that (Head coach: Ed Matus, temporary assistants: Alex & Lyndsey Matus) how could they lose?

Late in the game, with his team comfortably ahead, Coach Matus is the consumate coach, working the sidelines all the way to the final buzzer - all he needs is the red sweater vest. The result was a 24-17 victory for Coach Matus' green team - Brent Matus led all scorers with 12 points. Way to go T-Bone!!

Once again, Juneau spent the game playing a game on Aunt Coral's ipod:
Tonight we went to watch the Lake H.S. boys team and Nova and I had great time playing the windstorm game - she loves to lay on my lap and have me blow a "windstorm" in her face. She thinks it is the funniest thing ever.
Unfortunately, the Bowl Season is NOT off to a good start as my alma mater (for my master's degree), the Fresno State Bulldogs, stunk up the blue turf in Boise and got blown out by Northern Illinois in the Humanitarian Bowl, 40-17. Ouch! If the Warriors can win the Hawaii Bowl and the Buckeyes come through in the Sugar Bowl, my alma maters can still go 2-1 this year...and let's just be honest, I'd be more than thrilled with 1-2 if the "1" is the Sugar Bowl.

Tomorrow the girls and I start 2 weeks of traveling all over the state of Ohio - a couple days at Grandma and Grandpa Stickley's, back here for Alex & Lyndsey's bbal game, a few days at Grandma & Grandpa Saccenti's, Christmas at Aunt Coral's, a trip to Cincinnati, back to Grandma & Grandpa Stickley's for some Christmas celebrating, back to Toledo, then eventually headed back home to Hawaii. Whew!!!
