Day 108 / 88 To Go: Happy Birthday Grandma Stickley!!

As you can tell, in our family we planned ahead and everybody has their birthday in one of two clumps of time - Late September/Early October or Late January/Early February...Well, except for Casey and Nova (our May birthdays) and Emilie totally off by herself in March.

So today is Grandma Stickley's birthday...number ___. We'll just leave it at that. Juneau called grandma tonight and belted out a stirring rendition of Happy Birthday before settling in to watch Toy Story 2 on Disney Channel with her favorite Woody doll that Grandma bought her when she was here in January.

When we hung up the phone, Nova was so upset that she didn't get to tell Grandma Happy Birthday and sing to her that she cried until we called her back. However, when Grandma got on the phone, Nova had been so upset that she couldn't compose herself to sing. So, we hung up but Nova insisted so I had to pretend Grandma was still on the phone and let Nova sing Happy Birthday to her...Nobody tell Nova I was fooling her until she's 16.

So Happy Birthday Grandma!! There are two little Hawaii girls who miss you like crazy and can't wait until you come back...now if only they can convince you to stay as long as Melody's grandma stays when she comes to visit :)

Speaking of Melody, since the girls had such a good time Friday, I suggested to Melody and gang that we go see a movie today.

The girls waited outside the theater for Melody...

When she came wheeling up on Oma's lap, Juneau and Melody both screamed as soon as they saw each other.

The film of the day was the new animated 3D spectacle: Gnomeo and Juliet

I wish I had a good enough camera to take a picture in the theater with the 3 little girls all sitting there in the theater with their 3d glasses on just spellbound by the show.

For the first half of the movie, Tim and I had 3 giggling little girls on our right...

But after this guy showed up in the movie (complete with sunburned butt cheeks)...
...Beth and Wallie started laughing so hard that Tim and I definitely had to adopt a "We're not with them" posture and survive the rest of the movie surrounded by giggling girls.

Nova was super tired by the time the show was over and crawled up on Oma's lap for a ride out to the car. (Juneau however can be seen in the background chasing Melody through the lobby of the theater - those 2 are definitely peas in a pod).
