The Stickley family adventures started in Hawaii in 2005 when Cris and Emilie were married. The real excitement began in May 2008, when Nova was born. 2 short months later, our little June-Bug joined the family from all the way in Vietnam. The next few crazy years included Emilie being deployed to Afghanistan, while Cris and the girls moved back to Hawaii, then a long year of living apart (and a lot of trips across the Pacific Ocean), while Emilie remained in Colorado to complete her Army committment, and Cris had to stay in Hawaii for his job at the University.

In the summer of 2012, little Jude joined our family, and the whole gang reunited for good in Hawaii!

Follow our adventures, as we try to keep track of life with our 3 crazy kids, while keeping our friends and family updated on the happenings here in Hawaii!

dinner party

posted by: emilie

things are going pretty well here. i can't remember if i said how my schedule works, but i work one day, then i am off the next. the days i work are long, but it is nice to know i will have some down time the following day.

i am still struggling with making it around post wihtout having some sort of uniform correction..."ma'am, your PT belt goes around your waist when you wear short sleaves. it is only over the shoulder in your jacket" or "ma'am the PT belt goes from right shoulder to left hip, not left shoulder to right hip". i guess these guys don't realize i am happy that i just remember wear i left my gun, much less how i am supposed to be wearing my PT belt.

yesterday a couple of the medical providers hosted a little "dinner party" afghanistan style. they had some gourmet little items that had accumulated from care packages, so we got together and made our own little meal instead of going to the Dining Facility. Our spread included sun dried tomatoes, olives, sardines, salami, homemade raspberry jam, pumpkin butter, and fancy crackers. we added some cheese and bread from the dining facility, and played some classical music. we used an ironing board as our makeshift picnic table, and had a nice little evening.

oh, and a little message for my mom. after reading cris' post about the koi pond i know you are already trying to make a plan about shipping koi in a flat rate mailer to hawaii! i know you can put practically anything in a flat rate mailer...but i really don't think koi are a good idea!!!
